September 5th Trans-American Zoom invades Tucson

Since it's now officially within a month, I figured I'd make a thread for this.

Trans-American Zoom will be coming through Tucson on Friday, September 5th. Depending on "meeting up" interest, we can meet at time from noon through dinner time. We just need to get to Phoenix at some point on the 5th.

Not sure if i'll be in town that day yet or not, i might be traveling from kansas back to tucson on that day.

ok first post in theory is updated.. I'm stuck using bluetooth dial-up networking, our 14Mbps/1Mbps cable connection is operating at 1/3 the speed of dial-up --so I don't really have time to refresh the page to see if my edit made it.

If it didn't, just check the calendar September 5th and RSVP there

is that tomato software a free download/free to use? My cable has been acting fishy for the past 2months and I'm about to kill Cox for not holding up the service agreement

it would be nice to find a way to track actual connection speeds over X amount of time to have some firepower when I go to kick in some teeth.

It's an open source firmware that can run on many Linksys routers and a couple Buffalo models as well. The router most use it on is the WRT54G and WRT54GL from Linksys.

It's amazingly powerful and does have great logging. It's nice to track to see how much transmit/receive you do week by week, monthly, etc.

Oh and the QoS engine is the best implementation I've ever seen on a home networking product, if you're into that (I am ha).

same day we get to Tucson.. just late at night. We may be sleeping in our cars when we get to our townhouse, unless we can work out a way for the leasing office to get us keys before we get there :P

I was thinking about the logistics of this and they're pretty bad if I'm honest. Well.. basically to meet up in Tucson means we won't get to Phoenix until after the leasing office is closed so we'll have to get a hotel somewhere in Tempe for the night.

I know it's a work day but if anyone wants to meet up midday or probably even earlier as well let me know. We're coming from El Paso in the AM and possibly stopping in New Mexico at White Sands Nat'l Monument to pass some time on the way to Tucson. We'll probably get to Tucson a few hours before this still.

if you want, you can crash at my place over night in tucson and drive up to phx in the morning...im about 1 mile from i10 as well...pretty sure i have in inflatable bed lying around here somewhere

ok we're almost in Arizona. We're about to leave our hotel in El Paso. 4hr30 driving time plus 2 hours troubleshooing our cars when we break down so we'll be in town by 3:30.

When and where do people want to meet up?
